TACTICAL VEHICLE DEFENSE SEMINAR

The Tactical Vehicle Defense Seminar is a one day (8 hour) introduction to the fundamentals necessary to operate in and around vehicles in a tactical law enforcement situation. It covers the fundamentals of engaging targets from a vehicle, using the vehicle as cover while firing a handgun or rifle, using different hands-on techniques to extract a non-compliant suspect from a vehicle as well as safety considerations, and hot-stop tactics with armed and unarmed suspects. Students will progress from a refresher in pistol basics, non-standard shooting positions, and use of cover, to engaging targets from multiple locations in, under, and around a vehicle.

Discussions during the course will cover ballistic considerations when shooting from a vehicle and the hardened parts of a vehicle that provide the best cover, updated legislative content of penal code 835a, and debriefs after each SIM gun scenario.

Students will receive certificates upon completion

Multiple studies show between 50-60% of officer-involved shootings occur in or around vehicles. These incidents often last on average two to three times longer than other scenarios. We will provide you effective training to properly use a vehicle as cover, understand how a vehicle can work for you and against you in a gun fight and to improve your confidence and outcome to go home safely should you ever be involved in a gun battle involving a vehicle.

The seminar will be held at a private outdoor range in Escondido, CA. Participants will rally at Frances Ryan Park, 390 Hidden Trails Rd, Escondido, CA 92027 and caravan to the range. Trucks and SUVs are preferred but not required. Carpooling may benefit those in smaller cars with limited off-road capabilities.
